The SBAAC Fall Sports banquet was held 11/1/22 in Hamersville. Four members of the Cross country team and their parents were invited to the awards banquet. League first team All Star Awards were presented to Lydia Klump, Lizzy Cahall, Jacob Faught and Mason Williams. Great job first teamers!
The Fall CC awards banquet was held 10/30/22 to celebrate all of the achievements of 2022. All 5 seniors gave a heartfelt reflection about their CC years. All athletes were recognized at the event. Special awards were also presented for the most valuable and most improved runner for each group. For Jr High most improved were Paetyn Hatten and Everett Housh. Jr High most valuable runners were Gemma Burrows and Nolan Gifford. The High School most improved were Lydia Klump and Aaron Riddle. The High School most valuable runners were Lizzy Cahall and Jacob Faught. Great job everyone!
Jacob Faught and Aaron Riddle both finished in the top 15 at the District race on 10/22/2022. They both advanced as individuals to the OHSAA Regional Championship Race in Troy, Ohio on 10/29/2022. Congratulations gentlemen!
The SBAAC announced the National Division League All Stars after the League Meet on 10/15/22. The Georgetown First Team All stars for 2022 were Lizzy Cahall, Lydia Klump, Jacob Faught and Mason Williams. The Second Team All Stars were Ariel Riddle, Autumn Sanders and Aaron Riddle and Caleb Jones. Congratulations runners!
The class of 2023 CC seniors were recognized at senior night at a Georgetown soccer game 10/11/22. This group of seniors included Olivia Henson, Clayton Caldwell, Aiden McGinnis, Aaron Riddle and Mason Williams. This group of seniors have greatly improved the program over the last 6 years and will be greatly missed. Thank you seniors for everything you have done for Georgetown Cross Country!
A total of 408 miles were ran in 4 hours at this year's Run-A-Thon on 7/29/2022! This year the money raised went to support the Faught and Sanders families in their time of need. Jacob Faught broke the old 4 hour record running 23 miles this year. Lizzy Cahall was the leader for raising the most money. Thank you to all the students, coaches, donors and volunteers who helped make it happen. Great job everyone!
The 2022 Vern Hawkins Youth Summer Running Camp was June 20-24, 2022. Campers from three different school districts attended this year. Unfortunately, Coach Hawkins was unable to attend, but the students sent him a video and a card wishing him to get well soon. The highlights of the week were a one mile race and nightly motivational talks by guest speakers. Thank you to all the high school students, coaches, sponsors and parents who helped with the camp this year. We are excited and already planning for the June 2023 youth running camp!
Savannah Faught finished 14th place at the High School Regional CC Championship in Troy on 10/30/21. With that finish she qualified to advance to the OHSAA State Championship. Savannah is the first Georgetown CC Lady to compete at State since Kylie Watson did in 2011. Savannah finished 47th out of 187 runners at the State Championship on 11/6/21! It was a perfect end to her amazing senior CC season!
Savannah Faught broke the Georgetown School CC 5K record at the OHSAA District Championship race on 10/23/21. Her new record time of 19:46 breaks the old school record held by Kylie Watson of 19:54 set in 2012. Lizzy Cahall also jumped up the leader board at the same meet with a time of 21:14, now sitting at number 4! Great job Ladies!
